He is the maximum leader of the Cuban Revolution, which achieved the victory on January 1st, 1959. He was born in Birán, today’s Holguin province. His life has been devoted to struggle against social injustice. He performs the duties of Commander in Chief of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party.
